There are a lot of us, you know! In 2019 Northumberland County Council provided us with the equipment, and off we went!
Many of us keep the equipment at home, and keep the areas around where we live as litter free as we can. Many litter pick as they walk, too.
Schools RRF arranged to bring litter picking equipment for all of our schools - to keep their school grounds tidy, and the areas around the schools, too.

Community Litter Picking
Most months we have a community litter pick, lasting an hour. We are so lucky to be given a free cuppa by the local cafes and pubs afterwards!

We always collect a great deal of rubbish.

TODAY The Queens Head were kind enough to provide a cuppa for us (Saturday 19th April). And today we welcomed some new Rothbury Rubbish Friends!

VAPES
We are so happy that 'Disposable Vapes' are soon to be no more. In the news we hear that less are being sold (hooray) but we still found many today, unfortunately.
DISPOSAL of DISPOSABLE vapes. It seems that the message is still not getting through to all who needs to hear it. We have had no problem before handing what we have found into the Co-op.
We all need to know that if you sell these vapes, you have to, by law, take them back for recycling.
DANGER: They have been the cause of a huge amount of fires, in bins, bin lorries, and recycling plants. This is why they should NOT be put into ordinary OR recycling bins.
Vape Recycling
All retailers who sell vapes (regardless of type of store) must provide a recycling facility for consumers to bring back used or unwanted vapes.

It was a really good day today.
Why don't you join us for the JUNE LITTER PICK-NIC? (That is meant to be a play on words of litter pick, and picnic!
Watch out for the date - it is always a really good morning - picking litter, then scoffing a delicious picnic, courtesy of the Co-op.
