About Us
What we aim to do
Promote climate awareness and actions within the community, with the object of reducing carbon emissions and protecting biodiversity, through the provision of a range of activities and actions.
This will include the use of social media, physical media, talking with people, holding events, and working with schools, young people, businesses, places of worship, and other establishments and organisations to help implement climate conscious decisions.
How we are going to do it

raise funds, receive grants and donations

apply funds to carry out the work of the charity

co-operate with and support other charities with similar purposes

do anything which is lawful and necessary to achieve the purposes

Membership
People who support the work of the charity and are aged 18 or over, can apply to the trustees to become a member. Once accepted by the trustees, membership lasts for 3 years and may be renewed. The trustees will keep an up-to-date membership list.
The trustees may remove a person’s membership if they believe it is in the best interests of the charity. The member has the right to be heard by the trustees before the decision is made and can be accompanied by a friend.

AGM
Annual General Meeting - AGM

The AGM must be held every year, with 14 days’ notice given to all members telling them what is on the agenda. Minutes must be kept of the AGM.

There must be at least 3 members present at the AGM.

Every member has one vote.

The trustees shall present the annual report and accounts.

Any member may stand for election as a trustee.

Members shall elect between 3 and 10 trustees to serve for the next year. They will retire at the next AGM but may stand for re-election.

What data we will collect When you become a member of Rothbury CAN we will collect certain information about you which will include your name, email address and postcode. Why we will collect it We will collect and process your data for the purposes of administering your involvement with Rothbury CAN and we will process it on the basis of legitimate interests. The legitimate interests are the interests of registering you as a member of Rothbury CAN and keeping you informed. How long we will keep it We will retain your data for one year. You will be asked at the same time as the notice of AGM whether you wish to continue with membership. If you resign as a member of Rothbury CAN your data will be removed within one month of your resignation. Your rights You have the following rights under data protection legislation: 1. to access a copy of the information comprised in your personal data; 2. to object to processing of your personal data that is likely to cause or is causing damage or distress; 3. to prevent processing for direct marketing; 4. to object to decisions being taken by automated means; 5. in certain circumstances, to have inaccurate personal data rectified, blocked, erased or destroyed; and 6. to seek redress for a breach of data protection legislation. Sharing your data We will not share your data with any other organisation without your consent. Complaints If you have any complaints about how Rothbury CAN collects and/or processes your personal data, you should contact Rothbury CAN’s membership secretary in the first instance. If you are dissatisfied with how your concern/complaint is dealt with by Rothbury CAN, you have the right to report your concern/complaint to the Information Commissioners Office (www.ico.org.uk) Privacy Policy We will collect your name, email address, postcode and type of membership from an email supplied by you on application of membership. If you wish to see a copy of the data we hold on you, amend it or have it deleted, you should email your request to rothbury.can@gmail.com We undertake to action your request within one calendar month of receiving it. We may use your personal information for a number of purposes including to: Deal with your requests and enquiries (email,) Notify you of meetings, events and provide other information relating to Rothbury CAN’s core activities (email) Remind you when the AGM is due (email) If you do not wish your email address to be used in this way you should email rothbury.can@gmail.com The data we collect on you is stored electronically in a database in encrypted format. The data from email membership requests is transferred to the database and the original email securely destroyed. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
